In Don't Let the Forest In by C.G. Drews, high school senior Andrew Perrault finds solace in writing twisted fairy tales for his best friend, Thomas Rye. Upon returning to Wickwood Academy, Andrew notices unsettling changes in Thomas, including the mysterious disappearance of his abusive parents and Thomas's arrival at school with bloodstains. As Thomas becomes increasingly withdrawn and haunted, Andrew discovers that the monstrous creatures from his stories have manifested and are endangering those around them. The two boys must confront these nightmarish entities, but as their bond deepens, the line between reality and fantasy blurs, leading Andrew to question the true source of the horrors they face.
